Hamilton County PTA Council Recognized with Proclamation

The Hamilton County PTA Council was recognized at the November 19 Hamilton County School Board meeting with a proclamation from Sen. Andy Berke.

The proclamation, signed by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, recognized the PTA Council's county-wide healthy walk that was held on Friday, October 30, 2009.

The council was recognized as an exemplary organization by coordinating and promoting exercise and a healthy lifestyle by having all Hamilton County schools participate at a walk at the same time. With the increase of childhood obesity in Tennessee, the council was lauded for initiating the first annual Hamilton County PTA healthy walk.

Council President Tim Hixson received the proclamation on behalf of the county PTA council.

Over 300 Teachers at the Depot!

When the Hamilton County Council of PTAs opened its Teacher Supply Depot door to county teachers on Saturday, August 29, over 300 teachers came to receive free supplies for their classrooms! Many local businesses donated supplies for the depot.

The Teacher Supply Depot is in need of more donations! Donations needed include pencils, crayons, tape, paper, glue sticks, art supplies, back packs, paper towels, and other classroom supplies.

Teacher Supply Depot Opening Day

On Saturday, August 29, 2009 the Teacher Supply Depot will be open from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM for Hamilton County Teachers.

On-line registration will begin August 17, 2009. Please go to www.hcde.org to register. Please know that times fill up quickly and there are limited times available.

Each teacher will be allowed one box and one bulk item while they last. Various items are available such as pens, pencils, binders, highlighters, folders, & spiral notebooks.

The Depot is only open to Hamilton County Department of Education public school teachers at select times during the year. We encourage you to come and take advantage of this opportunity.

Location: Mary Ann Garber School, 2225 Roanoke Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37406

No children will be allowed on shopping days

Directions: Take Amnicola Highway and turn onto Wilcox Blvd. Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn left onto Roanoke Avenue. Garber School is located approximately 1 mile on the left.
